CPU and GPU prices are expected to rise again. The price increase affects all major manufacturers, ranging from Samsung, UMC, and TSMC to Intel, AMD, and Nvidia.
While it was recently thought that prices were looking very favorable and prices for graphics cards had dropped significantly, the tide is about to turn again, and prices are likely to increase!
The main reason for the new price hike is not only poor supply chains but also the rising costs at the key chip manufacturers TSMC, Samsung, and UMC. Due to increasing production costs, they will soon have to raise their prices, as indicated by a report from the news site Bloomberg .
Samsung chip customers are expected to be the most affected, facing potential price increases of 15 to 20 percent. Samsung produces chips for companies such as Qualcomm and Nvidia, as well as AMD and Intel.
These price increases will not only affect current graphics chips and processors but also upcoming products in 2022, such as the Ryzen 7000 processors or the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 chips. These products will also be affected by the higher production costs.
The mining limiter on Nvidia LHR RTX 3000 graphics cards has been lifted
Nvidia’s Lite Hash Rate (LHR) graphics cards can now mine Ethereum without restrictions again, thanks to updated mining software promising 100 percent of the original performance. This effectively lifts Nvidia’s mining limiter, at least temporarily.
Many PC graphics cards in the Nvidia RTX 3000 series are sold as LHR versions, intentionally reducing Ethereum mining performance by approximately half.
Nvidia implemented this measure to prevent gaming graphics cards from being purchased in bulk by crypto farms, thereby making them unavailable to gamers. However, this led to skyrocketing prices due to supply and demand dynamics.
